Are You Aware of What Happens Next After Hair Transplantation?

Hair Transplantation is the process of extracting hair follicles (donor hair) from one part of the scalp or body and implanting it in another region, known as the recipient region. Hair transplantation is the latest way of restoring hair permanently in the bald region.

The procedure is fit for men and women after a good evaluation in which many facts are considered. Technological advancement has provided various ways in which hair transplants are performed such as;

Strip Excision Harvesting

This has a lot in common with the old means of extracting and implant hair, but the procedure is performed in a friendly manner today. Also known as the Follicular Unit Transplantation, the surgeon removes a strip of hair from the donor area. The strip will be dissected and a bit of the tissue is also removed. Using the scalpels, the surgeon precisely fixes the hair strands into the created tiny incisions in the recipient region.

Follicular Unit Extraction

It is the modern method where individual hair follicles are extracted using micropunches from the donor region and then implanted into the tiny incisions made in the recipient region. A particular density and pattern are followed to create natural results. There is no pain, major wounds, or stitches, though the procedure may take more time.

The Robotic Hair Transplant

It is due to the advent technology that robotic hair transplants are possible. The robot completes the surgery, though under a surgeon surveillance. After the Surgery

It must be noted that hair transplant surgeries are associated with various side effects among which are normal while others are complications and require a surgeon’s attention.

Bleeding

You may experience bleeding due to the pressure that may be exerted in the scalp. Bleeding is more common in the strip surgery compared to the FUE surgery.

Swelling

This is a normal side effect and one must expect swelling around the eyes and on the forehead. In case it exceeds, try to contact your surgeon.

Infections

Infections occur in case no antibiotics are taken after the surgery. You may have to follow the surgeon’s advice in case you are to prevent them.

Hemorrhage.

It is an immediate side effect of hair transplant surgeries. It is a result of grafting that disrupts the scalp’s structure. A dermatologist or a surgeon will help you in this case.

Scarring

Scarring occurs in all the hair transplantation procedures, though the extent differs. FUT/Strip hair surgeries produce noticeable scars as compared to the FUE surgeries. The Trichophytic Closure in the case of a strip surgery can be a solution.

Temporary Shedding of Hair

You should expect the transplanted hair to fall out within the first 3 weeks. The hairs fall out, but the roots are left behind and hair will continue growing from month to month.

Itching & Scabbing

They both occur after hair transplant surgeries. Shampooing can control both of them and it can eliminate dryness.

Other possible side effects include numbness, pain, hiccoughs, and cysts. See a dermatologist in case of unexplained occurrences after the surgery.
